Do you know that we’re circling the sun at a distance of more than 150
million kilometer? The sun’s so far that the sunlight we’re seeing now
is the light that was released 8 minutes ago. But do you know that this
distance is also the right distance for life? A little closer and the
earth will be extremely hot, a little farther and the earth will be too
cold.
Do you know that the sun is really, really, bright? You're not supposed
to look directly into the sun, or else you'll hurt your eyes. It may
even blind you.
Do you know that the sun is very, very old? Its age is about 4,5
billion years old. Old as it is, the sun still has about 5 billion
years more to spare. For comparison, humans first exist about 100.000
years ago. Our existence is nothing but a mere blink of an eye of the
great sun.
Do you know also that the sun never stay still? As the universe
expands, the sun is caught in its current and drifting
aimlessly in the void, dragging the planets of the solar system with it. It will not be a
lonely journey, though. Sooner or latter, we are bound to meet other
star or stars. Some may even go into collision course with us...
But who cares about that? Come what may, come what may. The sun is
shining, and it’s a lovely day. Today, we may even found our true love under
the sky, in this brief spell on earth, and make our life worthwhile.
Good day sunshine...
